Puesdro (province)

Castavar's northeastern province is the silver country: the mountains above Puesdro and the Silverhead Mines, which have made Castavar the largest minter of silver on the continent since 752. It borders Tharax, and the road from Grarañe to Tharxa and the Tharaxi Gap crosses it. The Upland Shepherds drive their fine-wool flocks along the old drove-roads here. They pay the Grandees a sheep in ten and the king nothing, and custom holds that none of them may be arrested on the drove-road. The scrub holds the spotted Puesdro lynx, now nearly hunted out, and the hills are wooded with evergreen Puesdro holm-oak.
