River Muhau

Kaishon's "Long River," lined with rice terraces and canal cities, running on the map from Lake Tsenkin east past Chaiyo to the sea. Muhau buffalo work its paddies, Muhau rice feeds fourteen million people, and the red-crowned jade crane of its marshes is the symbol of the Dominion, painted on every magistrate's robe. The pale, blind Muhau river-dolphin is becoming rare, and the Muhau cicada, kept in cages for its song, is deafening in summer. Emperor Tokrai Shaiku, in his years as a vigorous reformer, rebuilt the canals.
