River Tsanha

The Tsanha is the outflow of Lake Surmave, leaving the lake by Larvir and running east across the Grass Sea to the Kaishon coast; on the map it passes the Jade Gate and Kokrin before reaching the sea. Whoever controls its fords controls east–west trade, and the Tsanha Crossing follows it. The only trees of the steppe, Tsanha willows, line its banks; gray cranes dance on it in spring; huge Tsanha sturgeon give roe that Caelvenne prizes; and ford carp are the common fish of the crossings. Larvir mules haul tow-barges along it, barge-towns of the Drift work it, and horse-flies torment the herds along it all summer. For six centuries after 502 the scattered people of Tontanor lived as farmers along its banks.
