Tsenkin
The Emperor's archive-city on Lake Tsenkin, keeper of Kaishon's records and home of the Measured, the Doctrine's strictest party. The deposed Emperor Tokrai Koimu was sent here in 725 and died copying manuscripts, and in the earthquake of 890 the lakeshore collapsed and the city lost a third of its manuscripts, including the only tables of Kaishon's older way of counting; recopying took forty years. Since then every visiting scholar copies one page by hand before leaving; Makok has copied four thousand pages, and Princess Seitotai copied the succession law, twice. The archive keeps a rope, the First Measure of Dezau Kokdau, that no one may see, and its physicians grow Tsenkin ginseng. Nothing new has come out of Tsenkin in two centuries.
