Tontanor

The ruined walled capital of the Charnazin of Tontanor, built after Shaghis the Gray founded the first steppe state in 455 at the Tontanor fords, a few days' ride down the Tsanha from Lake Surmave. When the charnazin collapsed in 502 the city was left to the wind, and for six centuries it held only the Stone-Sitters, a hermit or two living among the stones, and the Tontanor thistle that grows in the ruins; Tontanor wild asses graze the country around it. In 1141 Sarsak Tolmar killed the last rival olriq in single combat here and pitched Tolmar-Buyor on the ruins, and the hermits now have a camp.
